Bio21 Institute PC2 Laboratory

We have undertaken a series of refurbishment projects within the Bio21 Institute at University of Melbourne.

Recent projects have included:
- Biochemistry - PC2 general lab, freezer farm, equipment and tissue culture rooms for CryoEM preparation and Protein Characterisation
- General tisssue culture rooms - malaria research
- New Institute research dedicated server room.
- OMX microscope relocation

The labs have included an upgrade or provision of new specialised gases, incorporation of specialist equipment and associated services within a live OGTR registered laboratory.

Our latest tissue culture laboratory (completed 2019) involves a refurbishment to provide space for two new research groups, a separate tissue culture space and lab support. The works provide PC2 compliant laboratory space for up to 20 staff for the research of tissue culture generation of Cryogenic Electronic Microscopy (CryoEM). During the construction process, it was necessary to investigate a neighbouring insectary space to analyse existing conditions and liaise with user groups to negate any
