Education and Training Centre

The Bureau of Meteorology Training Centre provides a consolidated centre for education and training in Diploma of Meteorology and Technical Engineering courses for international and post-graduate students. A mixture of practical and theory courses are taught in this facility using specialist equipment, general classrooms and outdoors areas. Education and training streams include Air and Field Observations, Antarctic field training and Meteorology.

The project includes a reception, flexible classrooms, lecture/multi-purpose room, staff offices, video editing, library, breakout spaces, meeting rooms, video conference spaces and landscaping. The facility was also designed to switch to an Operations Control Centre for broader government roles if required with flexible furniture and dedicated essential services to accommodate these needs.

The building caters for some long term simulation exercises and has been designed to allow for informal learning and breakout areas to improve the amenities for staff and students in support of these intensive learning activities and fostering a collegiate atmosphere.
