Moonee Ponds Apartments
This project provides thirteen apartments and ground floor retail, parking spaces, storage and amenities in a key urban site in Moonee Ponds. The apartments have been designed to maximise natural light from multiple orientations and natural ventilation with two green-wall clad light courts. This provides some cross ventilation and a natural venting effect. The building mass is gently truncated to emphasise the shape of the unique North facing block. The building's mass is embellished with brick detail and projecting creases which break up the scale and identify the apartments. The texture works at an urban scale as an elevated mass at a similar proportion to other brick buildings in the area. A domestic texture is also applied, as is also prominent in Moonee Ponds, but made with raised bricks and hit-and-miss openings rather than Edwardian colour.
